BBC Sherlock gets new Licensed product

I am a big fan of both Sherlock Holmes as well as the BBC Sherlock TV series. (Those two things don’t always go together.)

As a fan of the latter, I have, of course, wondered if the show was truly done. It’s been 12 years because it debuted, five years because the final episode of season 4 (the last so far) aired.

Both Benedict Cumberbatch, who starred as Sherlock Holmes, as well as mark Gatiss, co-creator, writer, as well as Mycroft Holmes actor, have just recently been quoted as saying, when asked about the show’s future, “Never state never, but…” which is not precisely inspiring.

However, there was a recent piece of news that provided me one of those small glimmers of hope. To quote the ICv2 article,

Lucky Duck games has revealed a offer with BBC Studios to create a series of games based on the television show Sherlock.

Not just *a* game, however a series! There has already been a Cluedo (Clue to us Americans) with the characters.

The very first new game, Sherlock: situation Connection, is due out in the second quarter of this year. It’s a detection game with photos of characters as well as places from the show, for 2-4 players as well as priced at $24.99.

I’m thankful to see something new come out, although it most likely implies nothing other than somebody believed it would make money. There’s still a great deal of rate of interest out there, though.
