Lumberjanes #41 takes a bit bit of a departure. much of the series has focused on the campers encountering different supernatural or fantasy creatures, however this problem starts out with science, as shown in these preview pages. It’s written by Shannon Watters & Kat Leyh as well as illustrated by Ayme Sotuyo.
Jo is building a time sensor array. Plus, we get a bit insight into what she’s discovered valuable about her summertime with her good friends — a method to rediscover the joy of experimentation as well as discoveries without fretting about competition or future commitments. I like her passionate explanation of what she gets out of the process, as well as exactly how interesting science is. It’s a great thing to see in a comic that normally plays with magic.
Jen, the counselor, has some concepts of experiments the women can try, with a paper airplane competition that provides Sotuyo space to draw expressions, diagrams (you can make your own airplane!), as well as some lovely panels of the different planes in flight as the scouts excitedly see exactly how their styles work out.

This problem is a bit rambly, however that’s part of the charm. It’s all leading into a prospective dispute for the group, as one young lady clearly hasn’t heard “be cautious what you desire for”, especially when forest spirits are involved. even operating out of the very best intentions — never wanting the summertime to end — is not likely to end well when magic is involved. Lumberjanes #41 ends with configuration for a coming dispute that will take up a number of problems to come.
